The PA has declared an official ban on purchases from the Rami Levi supermarket chain. The chain's stores in Judea and Samaria, including one located in Gush Etzion, are very popular among Arabs from the area because of its prices and quality. Observers have called the stores a true example of coexistence, as Arabs and Jews freely mix and shop, all attracted by the bargains.
The PA has for months been trying to discourage Arabs from making purchases there, spreading false stories about the poor quality of the chain's goods. PA sources said that even top PA officials buy at the chain.
The "coexistance" may be very costly for us.
We hosted several soldiers on Rosh Hashana who are stationed in this area, and they expressed deep concern as they claimed that 2 very close terrorist attacks at RL were evidently " postponed" as a result of Army Intelligence which had knowledge of the plan and had soldiers stationed at Rami Levi when the Arab car with weapons drove up - in two instances - and left the spot when they spotted the soldiers.
They said that the Arab shopkeepers in Chevron want to stop RL from hurting their businesses.
